A modern dwelling designed on a compact infill site in Stannington, Sheffield . The main living spaces are orientated to gain maximum natural light and views over the Loxley Valley. Internally the incorporation of roof steels allows the creation of open plan double height living spaces and unusually generous accommodation throughout. Designed to be energy efficient the external fabric is super insulated and incorporates triple glazed window systems. A central roof lit staircase acts as a natural passive ventilation stack in the summer months and an integrated roof top solar panel links to the heating system to provide low cost hot water. Externally, the site levels and finishes were selected to protect near-by trees and maximise natural percolation drainage
